In french, the imparfait is used to to describe instances/activities/events that were either ongoing (meaning that they lasted for a prolonged amount of time) or repeated frequently (in the past, something you are not currently doing). For example, if you wanted to say "i was cooking dinner" you would say "je CUISINAIS le diner."

The passe' compose' (an apostrophe next to an "e" indicates an accent over that e) is used for two things. First, it is used to talk about specific events that happened once. For example, if you wanted to say "this morning I called my friend" you would say "ce matin j'ai TELEPHONE' mon ami." Second, the passe' compose' is used to interject into an imparfait phrase (to interrupt the action of an imparfait phrase). So, using the example from above, if your friend called while you were making dinner, you would say "pendant que (while) je cuisinais le diner, mon ami a telephone' "

so, 1. Lundi dernier, /je/ passer trois examens
Lundi dernier, j'ai passe' trois examens. (passe' compose')

2. Les examens de biologie et de psychologie/ ne pas être/ facile
Les examens de biologie et de psychologie n'etaient pas facile (imparfait)

you can do the rest
