What do you think this grave inscription means?
February 102010
There were a few graves on top of a really big hill in WV. We went there to visit my great grandmom. My uncle took me on the 4-wheeler and we went up to the graves. It was all one family…well they all had the same last name. One inscription said,"She wasn’t too good or to gentle to dwell in this cold word". Does it mean, like, she wasn’t good enough to live in our cruel world or what? I don’t know.

I agree. I think it means she was strong and down to earth. Break down the sentence to "she wasn’t too good to dwell in this cold world" and "she wasn’t too gentle to dwell in this cold world".

That’s a very interesting inscription, I think what was meant by "She wasn’t too good or to gentle to dwell in this cold word" is she never considered herself too good or too gentle to dwell in this cruel world. The person that decided upon the inscription probably was of the opinion that ‘we are what we think we are,’ or they may have just liked the wording.
The wording is a bit confusing, I don’t think it means "she wasn’t good enough to live in our cruel world" because it says "She WASN’T too good or to gentle to dwell in this cold word." It sounds as if it might’ve been a strange way of saying that she was a very strong woman, I assume she had a long life because of what the inscription says.

I think it means she was a tough woman. One that took some crap but also dish her share out too. She was no angel but she was respected.

It means she wasn’t so outwordly good and gentle that she wouldn’t belong on earth, it means she was good and gentle, but not overly, because there really is a limit, and the lady who died obviously knew the limit and knew that some people are just impossible. You can’t give your goodness to somebody who doesn’t appreciate it. She was a good person, but she wasn’t naive.
