Elle enchaîne les albums The Man I Love (89), Rêve orange (90), Les petites notes (93), Sweet Mystery (94).

On a tous raison

On a tous raison
De se poser des questions
D’oser dire non
On a tous le droit
D’aimer sa vie ou pas
De faire sa route de faire son choix
On a tous une chance
C’est pas perdu d’avance
La différence

A scarf is marked; honi suit maly pense English heraldry?

March 132010

Posted in droit | 2 Comments »

Large scarf also with words: dieu et mon droit . There are crests and soldiers on horseback all silk

it should really say honi soit mal y pense, check it, it’s the motto or part of the insignia of the order of the garter. It’s french and means something along the lines of " shamed be the person who thinks evil of it"
the other means "for god and my right".
It’s even on wikipedia, I was surprised

DISRUPT – A LIFE’S A LIFE

March 122010

Posted in droit | 24 Comments »

Countless creatures kept to die,
bash their brains to find out why,
electric shock includes stress
void of results are these tests.

IT hasn´t helped us in the past,
so why do you make their suffering last,
of course it´s cuz you´re getting-rich
you don´t care for life one bit,
we´ve beat disease by changing ourselves,
so take these cages off the shelves,
we only want them to be free,
a lifes a life can´t you see?

Test the limits of their mind,
it sheds no light on humankind,
the medical industry is a farce,
Here’s where liberation starts.

Placebos to keep you content,
you know not where money’s spent,
you find the labs which kill to cure
but are they sure? You can´t be sure
you didn´t see what happens past those walls,
if you did, you´d be appaled,
our bodies are not structured the same,
liberation our final aim…
vivisection is scientific fraud!!!

A Plumb tool? (see pic)?

March 112010

Posted in droit | 3 Comments »

In this pic (number 5 on diagram) it shows a plumb. When did they make these? Is there a place I can buy one?

http://www.droit-humain.org/uk/Gallery/Collection/Plaques/12plaques/Plaque6.gif

Here Bob Villa can say it better than I.

The plumb bob or plumb line employs the law of gravity to establish what is "plumb" (that is, what is exactly vertical, or true). You don’t have to have aced high school physics to understand that a string suspended with a weight at the bottom will be both vertical and perpendicular to any level plane through which it passes. In a sense, the plumb bob is the vertical equivalent of the line level.

I doubt that you’ll be surprised to learn that this tool, too, has ancient origins. Evidence suggests that Egyptian architects used plumb bobs to establish verticals in constructing the pyramids. (It’s also thought that, in tandem, they used flooded ditches to determine levels.)

The plumb consists of a specially designed weight and coarse string made of twisted cotton or nylon threads. (Masons prefer nylon because it stands up better over time to the dampness that comes with the trade.) At one end of the string the weight is affixed. Precisely machined and balanced bobs have pointed tips, and can be made of brass, steel, or other materials, including plastic.

To use the tool, the string is fixed at the point to be plumbed. The weight, or bob, is then allowed to swing freely; when it stops, the point of the bob is precisely below the point at which the string is fixed above. (Note that the line must be hanging free to get an accurate reading.)

The plumb bob is useful in establishing vertical for a wall in construction or a doorjamb when hanging a door. A spirit level will also accomplish those tasks, but some jobs are much more easily done using a plumb bob. For example, you can locate fixtures or decorations in relation to an object or surface below (or above) using the plumb line. Once it is hung and still, the top and bottom points can be marked and used as guides. The plumb line in one place can be used to sight an object in another – a pipe, for example – for plumb. Surveyors sometimes use plumb bobs for lining up points or transferring them. Excavation and foundation contractors rely upon the plumb line, and constructing a chimney the plumb bob can indicate whether a flue is running true vertical or veering off plumb.

Some bobs have pointed tips that can be bent by repeated use or abuse; if the point on yours is bent or out of alignment, replace it.

Plumb bobs may weigh as little as an ounce or as much as several pounds, depending upon the application. For most home toolboxes, I recommend having a single bob that weighs a few ounces. As is so often the case, it isn’t how fancy the tool is, but how well you use it.

How do British Atheists view the American atheists’ crusade to remove religious symbolism from public venues?

March 92010

Have any of you objected, with quite so much…fervor,…to having been made to God Save the Queen in school. Or having the Archbishop of Canerbury preside at coronations. And the "Dieu et mon Droit" bit…in FRENCH, no less….
I apologizzze for sp. errors. Past my b-time.
Yes, well, Anne, there was the bit of a tempest in a teapot about the Ten Commandments needing to be removed from More’s courthouse…and of course, the big to-do about taking the Under God out of the pledge of allegiance….and the prayers and all other references to God out of public school…

Not being whiney m’dear, I too believe there are FAR more important things than symbolism to worry about, and was wondering if British atheists felt the same way.

But How is it that I was aware of all these movements WITHOUT having watched Fox news (whose neoconservative shills I despise?) Where are YOU hearing about current events, that you missed all the reporting on these?
Hardtack: I’m not fond of neocons, but on the other hand a Jew, (Jonas Salk) was behind the invention of the polio vaccine, too. Not to mention half of the talent behind the creation of the Rogers and Hammerstein musicals.
One frustrated thumbs up goes out to THAT answer, Ichi.

As a British Atheist I actually LOVE religious symbolism here in Britain….but I do not connect the religious elements of it to anything other than mans’ fantastic ability to shape his own landscape ingeniously..

I refer of course to the the 1000 year old churches, cathedrals, palaces and castles that are all steeped in amazing artworks, architechure, history, pomp and grandeur that humbles me from a purely philosophical, intellectual (and artistic) point of view…I love them all, and regularly go on trips to study them around the country….Stonehenge, The Great pyramids of Egypt…again massive symbolism but more importantly, great historic structures…that is more important to me..

I genuinely do not give a crap about the reasons behind it all and don’t believe anything myself…but I love the feeling of standing in the midst of such history, mystery and beauty…I love it…and it is nothing to do with the religious pilgramage thing that others go there for!

God Save The Queen…Couldn’t give a crap, Jerusalem (by Blake) is more of a British anthem anyway, and that is just as steeped in mythical religious shiznit.

Archbishop of Cantebury presiding over things, fills me once again with the sense of history, I know this has been the case since Henry the VIII and the great scism between the Church of England and the Catholic Popes and I like that idea of preservation of culture…somethings stay the same as ceremonial testimony to history rather than any great religious thing…

I think I take a bit of a different view of things that atheists do usually…but that is MY personal atheism and it works for me!!

Antique Chival Bottle from Aberdeen by Royal Doulton – ever see one?

March 72010

Posted in droit | 1 Comment »

Is there a bottle collector that can help me, please?
I have a bottle I haven’t had any success finding information like history, value and any other info you may have.
It is a porcelain bottle made by Royal Doulton for Chivas Brothers LTD, Aberdeen, Scotland. Green with black fleck glazed. Nothing painted except the lettering and stamp on the bottom. The front has a lion wearing a crown and a horse-ish figure – both on their hind legs holding a coat of arms, which has three lions stacked over each other, a single lion on its hind legs, three more lions, and a harp, in four sections (clockwise from top left). "DIEU ETMON DROIT" is written on a banner under the coat of arms and the lion and horse are standing on it. Small oval place for label.
The back has an embossed place for a label with a crown over it. The top is a metal crown. It stands about 8 inches high. Also says on bottom: Federal Law proibits sale or re-use of this bottle. There is no date or measurement.

I think if the bottle is empty, the value may be minimal. I know my brother had a full one like this, and it was worth around £100 due to the age of the whisky. I think empty you might be able to sell it on ebay for around 10-20…
