What effect does the Nancy Grace show have on prospective jurors?
September 302009
After watching her show for the last few weeks, I would think that possible jurors would have preconceived opinions about the different cases if selected. Is her showed taped after jury selection? If not, are jurors asked if they ever watch the Nancy Grace show? Would this be a reason defense attorneys use for dismissal?
Somewhat dangerous isn’t it. Recently, I heard a lawyer on TV say, a trial isn’t about truth, it’s about getting a conviction or acquittal.
Nancy Grace’s job is to fan the flames based on some facts and endless hours of wild speculation. What a lot of people don’t realize is, she is nothing more than the host of a show. You’ll notice very few of her experts voice a different opinion and if any of them disagree, she lashes out at them. Of course this is all pre-scripted to make it look like it’s a fair and balanced show.
Of course her show taints what people think. No, her show doesn’t care if a jury has been selected yet, nor does the notion of innocent until proven guilty in a fair trial matter to her. Rating are what matter, having material to flap her mouth about matters.
Notice how police depts in most states limit what gets out. Yet Florida state dumps it all out to the media by law. Why do you think Nancy Grace is fixed on Casey Anthony. Casey’s case is a easy target for Nancy Grace due to Florida law. Maybe we will see Florida change it’s laws after this case.
Notice how Nancy Grace calls Casey Anthony "Tot Mom". This is "Branding" a tool used in Marketing, as in selling a story to lots of views. Personally, after about 3 minutes I change the channel because I can’t stand her.
